Review
Diddy Kong Racing was a great combination game, showcasing some of Rare’s great talent of bringing graphics, sound, and overall entertainment to the table.
The game has you playing as one of a number of characters with the star being Diddy Kong racing in cars, hovercraft, and planes over many different types of terrain, including dirt, snow, ice, grass, and water. The game is also the starting point for the lead characters in some of Rare’s other major hits, including Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie and Conker from Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
The Diddy Kong Racing Soundtrack is quirky and somewhat “kiddish,” as it should be. It fits the game perfectly, with the main theme changing as you enter new areas. Ice, for example, will be played with bells.
