It was a game that spawned a hobby - no, a profession - called modding.
Revolutionary graphics for the day, featuring remarkable physics (so far as blood, guts, and the like), and a host of weapons and characters, Valve’s Half-Life still ranks highly on the list of “must play to call yourself a gamer,” titles. For the first time, a game developer (in this case Valve) very openly let their customers tweak and play with their game to enhance upon and create new styles of gameplay.
The Half-Life Soundtrack is smaller in size, but features a great score of very eerie “something’s not right” style music. Lot’s of bass, lot’s of sustained notes…..you get the picture.
