Back in the old days, before Mario Tennis, Mario Party, and Mario Golf, there was one original game that brought Mario out of the Mushroom Kingdom's Pipes and into wacky sports-esque situations. Super Mario Kart for Super Nintendo. It received much acclaim, and spawned many sequels, the first of which being Mario Kart 64.

Mario Kart 64 came with it much fanfare, many gamers enjoyed the prequel but were slightly unsure how well it would hold up in full 3-D. When the game was finally released, it came out to stellar reviews, working off many aspects the old game had began, including Battle Mode, and the Mushroom to Special Cups. A special feature was introduced into this game, the classic "Mirror Mode" where all turns were reversed, confusing drivers to no end.

With a great game comes great music. From Luigi's Raceway right to the longest track in Mario Kart history, Rainbow Road, each track brought the player a more immersed feeling in the game. Kalamari Desert takes a wild west theme, while Toad's Turnpike gives you the feeling of frenzy while cars speed around you to make you explode. It's a classic soundtrack that'll take you back to the old days of red turtle shells and punching your best friend in the shoulder when he slams into you with Star Power.
